Rio Mavuba’s future with Lille is uncertain, and it appears to be linked to the team’s potential qualification for the Champions League. Coveted by several clubs, including Marseille (OM), the Franco-Angolan midfielder is considering his options. After the match between Montpellier and Lille (0-0) last Saturday, Mavuba was seen on the French Riviera.
In statements relayed by L’Equipe, Mavuba mentioned, “I had a meeting. If we are not European, it will be a bad season. Today, I don’t ask myself any questions. Maybe next Monday. But before the World Cup (in 2014), it is important to have guarantees on your playing time even if you also have to have the competitions that you are going to play.”
