Josuha Guilavogui is on the brink of returning to Saint-Etienne. The French international, who has been struggling for playing time at Atletico Madrid, aims to reignite his career just five months before the World Cup. According to L’Equipe, Saint-Etienne’s management finalized the deal late Thursday night for the return of the Franco-Guinean midfielder, in the form of a paid loan without a purchase option.
Guilavogui departed Saint-Etienne on September 2, in the closing moments of the transfer window, believing that joining the Spanish club was the right choice. However, he struggled to establish himself among the ranks of the Rojiblancos.
Now, the 23-year-old, whose contract extends until 2018, is expected to return to Saint-Etienne on Friday. With limited playing time in Spain, the French international seeks to rejuvenate his career ahead of the World Cup in Brazil, viewing his former club as the best opportunity to do so. Having already represented both Saint-Etienne and Atletico Madrid this season, Guilavogui is ineligible to join a third club.
