It’s now official: Shikabala, the Egyptian international attacking midfielder, has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with Sporting Portugal, completing a move from Zamalek Cairo. The Lisbon-based club announced the agreement on Saturday, marking a significant step for the 27-year-old player.
In a statement released by Sporting Portugal, Shikabala expressed his excitement about joining a prestigious European club, stating, “The negotiations were complicated, but the important thing now is that I realized a dream by arriving at a big club in Europe.”
Shikabala’s career began at Zamalek, where he made a mark early on by scoring his first goal at just 16 years old. He also had a stint at Greek club PAOK Salonika before returning to Zamalek, where he quickly became a star player.
During his career, Shikabala also played for Al Wasl Dubai in the UAE on loan, where he impressed with his performances. He then attracted the attention of Olympiakos, who offered 3.5 million euros for his services. However, he eventually returned to Zamalek, where he continued to excel, contributing to the team’s success in domestic competitions.
Now, with his move to Sporting Portugal, Shikabala is poised to make an impact in European football and fulfill his aspirations at a high-profile club.
