According to the London Evening Standard, Christian Benteke is growing impatient and exerting pressure on the leadership of Aston Villa to facilitate his departure. The Belgian striker of Congolese origin has openly expressed his desire to leave Villa Park for several weeks. Tottenham is reportedly interested in signing the Belgian international, and Benteke is pushing for immediate negotiations with Spurs.
The release clause in Benteke’s contract is set at €29 million, and Tottenham is allegedly prepared to pay €23 million to secure the services of the Red Devil.
Benteke made the move from Racing Genk to Aston Villa last summer for €9 million, signing a three-year contract. In his debut season in the Premier League, the 22-year-old scored an impressive 19 goals. Despite interest from Chelsea, Benteke seems inclined towards a different destination for his next move.
