As reported by Africa Top Sports and RMC, Sunderland has made significant progress in securing the services of Benjamin Mendy. The Black Cats and Le Havre have reportedly reached an agreement regarding the transfer of the 18-year-old defender.
Jean-Pierre Louvel, president of Le Havre, confirmed the agreement in an interview with RMC Sport, stating, “We have reached an agreement with Sunderland for the transfer of Mendy. It is now up to him to come to an agreement with them. We are ok. OL? We were close to an agreement with Lyon, it didn’t happen, but you never know… Today, the only club we agree with is Sunderland, and it’s now Benjamin Mendy’s choice to make his decision.”
This development suggests that Mendy is on the verge of joining Sunderland, pending personal terms and the player’s agreement. The potential move to Sunderland comes after negotiations with Lyon reportedly fell through.
