According to Le Progrès, a rising talent in Burkina Faso football has captured the attention of the Saint-Etienne technical staff. Assim Traoré, an 18-year-old striker hailing from the center of Matourkou, underwent a successful trial with the Greens over the past few weeks and has officially joined AS Saint-Etienne under the leadership of coach Christophe Galtier.
Having already qualified, Traoré is set to participate in the Gambardella Cup with the club’s youth team. This Sunday, Saint-Etienne is scheduled to travel to Valence for the round of 64 in the competition.
Traoré’s football journey began at the Institute of African Footballers (IFFA) in Matourkou. Notably, he played a role in the Cadet Stallions winning the U17 CAN in Rwanda in 2011. Despite this achievement, Traoré is not expected to feature in the first team immediately. Instead, he will continue his development with the reserve team as he gains experience and matures in his football career.
