Memphis Depay: Marseille linked with move for Corinthians and Netherlands forward

Dutch-Ghanaian forward Memphis Depay, currently at Corinthians, is being linked with a move to Ligue 1 side Marseille as the French club explore attacking options for the new season.

Depay, 32, is under contract with Corinthians until 31 July 2026 but could be available for around his current valuation of €7m as the Brazilian club weigh up whether to cash in before he enters the final year of his deal. Marseille are monitoring his situation closely as they look to add experience and versatility in the final third.

The centre-forward joined Corinthians in September 2024 after leaving Atletico Madrid, rebuilding his career in Brazil and helping the Sao Paulo club to domestic silverware, including the 2026 Supercopa do Brasil. This season he has made eight league appearances in the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A, scoring once, as well as featuring in the Copa Libertadores.

Depay’s profile, shaped by spells at Manchester United, Lyon, Barcelona and Atletico, makes him one of the most decorated forwards currently playing in South America, with major trophies in England, Spain and the Netherlands and a third-place finish with the Netherlands at the 2014 World Cup. He also featured for his country at the 2026 World Cup, contributing an assist in three appearances.

While talks between the clubs have not been made public, the alignment of Depay’s contract timeline and market value has encouraged Marseille to test Corinthians’ resolve, with the Brazilian side aware this may be one of their last opportunities to secure a significant fee before his deal runs down. Depay remains a Corinthians player for now, with his medium-term future likely to hinge on whether a formal offer arrives before the closing stages of the European transfer window.
