Mehrez Boussayene, a member of the International Olympic Committee and President of the Tunisian Olympic Committee, has been appointed to a new role within the organization.
In an official communication from the President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, Boussayene was informed of his appointment as a member of the Legal Affairs Committee, a pivotal body within the international sports structure.
The Legal Affairs Committee, comprised of seven legal experts from around the world, plays a critical role in providing advice and consultation to the General Assembly, the Executive Board, and the President of the International Olympic Committee on all legal and legislative matters pertaining to their duties.
This appointment underscores Boussayene’s standing within the global Olympic community and recognizes his expertise in legal matters related to sports governance.
As a member of the Legal Affairs Committee, he will contribute to shaping Olympic policy, providing legal counsel on issues ranging from the revision of the Olympic Charter to litigation and safeguarding the interests of the International Olympic Committee.
The committee also offers its opinion on proposed amendments to the Olympic Charter, initiates legal actions, and ensures the defense of the International Olympic Committee’s interests while conducting legal studies relevant to the committee’s interests.
