Mehdi Dorval linked with Catanzaro move from Bari

Algerian-French left-back Mehdi Dorval is being linked with a move from Bari to Catanzaro, with the Serie B club reported to be interested in the 25-year-old defender.

Dorval has been with Bari since July 2022, when he joined from Cerignola on a free transfer. He has established himself as a left-back and remains under contract with the Italian club until 30 June 2027.

The reported interest comes as Catanzaro prepare to consider a player currently listed in Serie C, while Bari are also listed in Italy’s third tier. A transfer would therefore involve Dorval moving between clubs from different divisions within the Italian game.

Born in Paris on 9 February 2001, Dorval holds Algerian and French nationality. He is 1.76m tall and can use either foot, according to his player profile.

His career in Italy began with a move from Aubervilliers to Fasano in January 2021, followed by a switch to Cerignola later that year. He then moved to Bari the following summer, completing each transfer without a reported fee.

Dorval’s current market value is listed at €1.8m, while his contract gives Bari control of his future for another season beyond the current campaign. The rumour does not include a reported transfer fee or an indication of how advanced discussions with Catanzaro are.
