Mehdi Carcela, following his red card and expulsion during the Belgian Clasico between Standard and Anderlecht, received a two-match suspension and a fine of 400 euros. The Moroccan player, who scored the only goal of the match, was penalized for a harsh tackle on Anthony Vanden Borre.
While the Prosecutor’s Office initially requested a three-match suspension, Carcela’s club, Standard, has decided to appeal the decision. The appeal will be heard next Friday, allowing Carcela to participate in the upcoming championship playoff match against Zulte Waregem.
