Tensions have surfaced within Zamalek’s first team as midfielder Mohamed Shehata clashes with the club’s medical staff over his fitness and readiness to return to full training.
After suffering a hamstring injury, Shehata has been sidelined since the August fixture against Wadi Degla and is eager to make his comeback, feeling he has completed his recovery.
However, the medical team, led by Gerard Oso, insists on caution, requiring Shehata to continue his rehabilitation and undergo further treatment before reintegrating. Shehata feels their concerns are excessive and delaying his important return, especially as Zamalek prepares for a key Confederation Cup tie against Dekedaha of Somalia.
His frustration is justifiable, he believes he’s fully recovered, ready to aid his team at a crucial time, and wants to prove he deserves his place in the line-up, especially as Ahmed Rabie has performed well in recent games.
Despite his strong stance, teammates led by Seifeddine Jaziri have stepped in, encouraging patience and trusting the medical team’s judgment for lasting health. Ultimately, the club’s priority is Shehata’s long-term fitness, hoping he will soon receive the green light.
Zamalek continues its campaign with an eye on continental glory, but internal unity and health management remain essential for success.
