Mehdi Khchab Joins RAEC Mons on Two-Year Deal
RAEC Mons have secured the services of Mehdi Khchab, a Belgian midfielder of Moroccan descent, on a two-year contract. The 23-year-old arrives from Charleroi-Fleurus, where he competed in Belgium’s third division during the 2023–24 season.
Khchab, a product of Sporting Charleroi’s youth academy, brings with him top-flight experience and versatility. Capable of playing as a full-back or a right midfielder, he is recognised for his attacking intent and determined playing style.
“I’m really happy to join the club and to work under coach Beugnies, who has been following my progress for some time,” Khchab said in an interview published on RAEC Mons’ official website. “It’s a great satisfaction for me.”
Khchab’s career has had its share of ups and downs. After making two appearances in Belgium’s first division during a difficult relegation season, he was loaned to Virton for the 2012–13 campaign, helping them win promotion to the second tier. A move to RWDM Brussels was on the cards last year, but the deal collapsed due to the club’s licensing issues.
“Last season was more complicated,” Khchab admitted. “I had a successful trial at RWDM Brussels, but the situation there prevented a signing. To keep my form, I ended the season with Charleroi-Fleurus.”
The midfielder expressed gratitude to those who have supported him throughout his journey, particularly Mano Calvo, whom he described as “more than a friend… like a second dad.” He also noted his friendship with Loris Brogno, a former teammate from his U21 days, who remains a close ally both on and off the pitch.
Now focused on this new chapter, Khchab is eager to make an impact at Mons. “I’m a persevering person, driven by the desire to progress. With Mons, I really feel like I can take that next step.”
RAEC Mons will hope Khchab’s determination and adaptability add depth to their squad as they prepare for the challenges ahead.
