McAfee warning prompts users to answer questions about possible hidden spyware

A security alert warns that hidden spyware could be operating in the background without producing audible signs of activity.

The message says artificial intelligence has assessed whether the threat can be removed, but states that the threat has not been eliminated and requires a manual analysis.

To proceed, users are told they must answer three questions posed by the artificial intelligence.

The first asks whether the device has been heating up quickly. The recorded response is “Yes”.

The second asks whether the device has occasionally frozen completely. The response is again “Yes”.

The third asks whether the browser has been redirecting automatically. No response is shown.

The alert then instructs users to click a button to begin an antivirus scan and repeats that answering all three questions is required to continue.
