MC Oran and Olympique Akbou started Round 26 of the Algerian Ligue 1 with hard-fought 2-1 wins on Friday night, delighting their home fans and collecting crucial points.
In Oran, the hosts dug deep to overcome ES M’Kira. Gambian striker Ba Omar Jobe struck twice for the visitors in the 8th and 45+3rd minutes. However, Faik Amrane’s early equalizer in the 15th minute helped MC Oran regroup. The second half saw the home side defend bravely to seal all three points. The win takes Oran to 30 points in 10th place, while ES M’Kira slide to 14th with 27 points.
Elsewhere, Olympique Akbou battled to victory over Union Khenchela. Younes Abdelhak Wassé opened the scoring in the 24th minute. Veteran Taoufik Addadi added a second from the spot in the 75th minute before Hamid Jaouchi pulled one back late on in the 88th minute.
Both teams now sit on 28 points, tied in 12th place.
