MC Alger head coach Rulani Mokwena has reportedly been fined and cautioned by the Algerian Football Federation’s Disciplinary Committee following an incident during his team’s recent league match.

The South African tactician guided the “People’s Club” to a narrow 1-0 victory over ES Mostaganem at the Ali La Pointe Stadium in Douera on Saturday, a result that extended his unbeaten start to life in Algeria.

The win lifted MC Alger to fifth place on the Algerian Ligue 1 table, just four points behind leaders JS Saoura, with three games still in hand.

Since taking charge at the start of the season, Mokwena has overseen three wins and a draw from four matches, cementing his strong start.

However, reports indicate that Mokwena was sanctioned for protesting a referee’s decision during the match.

He was fined approximately $740, while the club was also penalised after fans set off fireworks in the stands.

The 38-year-old coach has also received an official warning, with the federation cautioning that any repeat of such behaviour could result in more severe disciplinary action.

MC Alger, the reigning Algerian Premier League champions, will turn their attention to continental duties when they face Colombe on October 19 in the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
