MC Alger boss Rulani Mokwena demands improvement despite unbeaten start
MC Alger head coach Rulani Mokwena has urged his players to continue raising their standards, despite a strong start to the Algeria Ligue 1 season.
Mokwena remains unbeaten in his first 12 matches in charge across all competitions, with Sunday’s 1-0 win at El Bayadh marking the team’s seventh victory in eight league games.
The result puts MC Alger atop the table with a two-point cushion, even with three matches still in hand.
Speaking after the game, the South African coach stressed the importance of maintaining focus and consistency.
“I congratulate the players and the team on this victory in a difficult match that we knew beforehand would not be easy, as the opponent drew at home with CR Belouizdad, and it is not easy to win here.
“Mouloudia El Bayadh is a good team, they play beautiful football and are characterized by dangerous attacking transitions, so it was necessary for us to keep possession of the ball and not make mistakes, and we were tactically organized in an excellent manner.
“I thank the players for their efforts and for achieving the three points. I always urge them to focus and improve their performance. We are on the right track, but work is still ongoing to achieve our goals,” the former Sundowns coach added.
Mokwena, who previously managed Mamelodi Sundowns, continues to guide MC Alger through a promising campaign in Algeria’s top flight.
