Mbappe and Olise briefly leave France camp before the World Cup
French superstars Kylian Mbappe and Michael Olise have temporarily departed the national team’s gathering following France’s 3-1 victory over Northern Ireland in Lille on Monday.
Blues captain Mbappe left for Madrid immediately after the match, traveling to Spain that evening to return to his familiar environment before the World Cup trip to the United States, according to Ligue 1 on Air.
Meanwhile, Olise departed Clairefontaine Tuesday morning. The Bayern Munich offensive midfielder returned to Munich, Germany after participating in the French team’s training camp.
These departures don’t indicate any problems. Both players simply received a brief break before reuniting with teammates. Didier Deschamps’ squad meets tomorrow at noon at Clairefontaine for the official departure to the United States.
France will now cross the Atlantic to continue preparations and play upcoming international matches on American soil. Mbappé and Olise will be present for this journey despite their temporary return to their respective clubs.
The World Cup 2026 begins with France eager to compete on American territory after their recent Northern Ireland win.
