Mayssam Benama joins Al-Khor SC after Valencia B exit
France and Algeria midfielder Mayssam Benama has joined Al-Khor SC, moving to the Qatari Second Division club as a free agent.
The 21-year-old central midfielder arrives after leaving Valencia B in April 2026. He had joined the Spanish side from French club FC Annecy on a free transfer in January, before departing at the end of the season.
Benama’s move to Qatar marks the latest step in a career that began in the Tours area before taking him to the Monaco academy. He joined AS Monaco’s youth system in 2020 and progressed from the club’s under-17 side to the under-19 and under-21 teams.
He was part of the Monaco under-19 side that won the French Youth Cup in the 2022-23 season. During his time in youth football, Benama scored six goals in 34 National U19 group appearances and added five goals in nine Coupe Gambardella matches.
The right-footed midfielder also made appearances in the Premier League International Cup Under-21 competition and the UEFA Youth League. He recorded one goal and one assist in nine Premier League International Cup Under-21 outings, while featuring seven times in the Youth League.
Benama later played for FC Annecy before making the move to Valencia B. He made five appearances in Spain’s Segunda Federacion and also featured once in the Coupe de France during his senior career.
Born in Tours on 9 March 2005, Benama stands 1.77m tall and is primarily deployed in central midfield. His arrival gives Al-Khor a player with experience across French and Spanish football at youth and reserve level.
The transfer was completed on 22 August 2026, with Benama joining Al-Khor after a period without a club.
