Maximilian Baafi: German-Ghanaian winger linked with Viktoria Zizkov move from free agency
German-Ghanaian right winger Maximilian Baafi, currently without a club after leaving FC Twente’s U21 side, is being linked with a move to Czech National League outfit Viktoria Zizkov.
Baafi, 22, became a free agent at the start of July after his stint with Twente’s development squad came to an end, making him an accessible option for Zizkov as they look to strengthen their attacking options without paying a transfer fee. The Czech second-tier side are exploring wide options in the market and are understood to be considering the Hamburg-born player as part of that search.
The right-footed winger spent last season with Twente U21, having joined the Dutch club in 2024 following a spell in German regional football with Eimsbutteler TV. During his time in the Netherlands’ U21 Divisie 1, he made 23 appearances in the autumn campaign, scoring six goals and providing four assists, before adding three goals and one assist in 19 matches in the spring phase.
Baafi came through the youth ranks at St Pauli, progressing from the club’s U17s to U19s before moving across Hamburg to Eimsbuttel and later heading abroad to join Twente’s academy structure. He has experience in Germany’s Regionalliga Nord as well as youth Bundesliga competitions at U17 and U19 level.
With Baafi unattached following the expiry of his deal at Twente U21 earlier this month, any agreement with Viktoria Zizkov would be expected to take the form of a free transfer once, and if, talks progress.
