Rio Mavuba, the captain of LOSC Lille, made his return to the pitch last Sunday after recovering from a hamstring injury sustained on March 2. His comeback in the goalless draw against Marseille is a positive sign for both his club and his aspirations to make it into Didier Deschamps’ 23-man squad for the upcoming World Cup.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Mavuba expressed his satisfaction with his return to action: “A month and a half away from the field is a long time but I feel good.” He mentioned that playing the full ninety minutes against Marseille without any setbacks was encouraging. However, he acknowledged the need to continue building strength as he has important objectives for the remainder of the season.
Mavuba’s primary focus is on helping LOSC maintain their position in third place in Ligue 1. Additionally, he harbors hopes of representing France at the World Cup in Brazil this summer. His return to fitness is a positive development for both club and country.
