Mauritanian international Beyatt Lekweiry has completed a move to Swiss side FC Lausanne-Sport, signing a three-and-a-half-year contract from Croatian club NK Istra.
Impressive Spell in Croatia
The 19-year-old midfielder arrived in Croatia last summer and quickly made an impact at NK Istra. Over 17 appearances, he registered four goals and four assists, establishing himself as a key player within the squad.
His performances caught the attention of Lausanne-Sport, prompting the Swiss club to secure his signature after just six months in the Croatian top flight.
A New Chapter in Switzerland
Lekweiry touched down in Lausanne on Thursday and is set to train with his new teammates for the first time on Friday. He will wear the number 27 shirt for his new club.
FC Lausanne-Sport sporting director Stéphane Henchoz expressed his excitement about the arrival of the young Mauritanian, highlighting his potential to strengthen the team’s attacking options.
“Beyatt is a young player with great potential and will continue his development in our colours. We are convinced that his qualities as an attacking midfielder will benefit the team,” Henchoz said.
Bright Future Ahead
Lekweiry’s move to Switzerland represents the next step in his career as he looks to continue his development on the European stage.
The Mauritanian international will now aim to make an immediate impact in the Swiss league and further enhance his reputation as a promising midfield talent.
