Mauritania’s national football team, the Mourabitounes, are now fully assembled ahead of their vital Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifiers. The final group of players arrived at the training camp on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, as preparations ramp up for their upcoming clashes against Egypt.

Head coach Amir Abdou will be relieved to have his full squad at his disposal. Among the last to arrive was striker Aboubakar Kamara, whose presence now completes the 26-man roster called up for the qualifiers.

The team is gearing up for two pivotal encounters with Egypt, scheduled for October 11 and 15, which will significantly impact Mauritania’s journey to AFCON 2025.

While many teams are still making adjustments to their line-ups, Abdou appears to be satisfied with the readiness of his side.

The arrival of all the expected players allows him to focus on refining tactics and building team cohesion ahead of their matches against the Pharaohs.

In midfield, Abdou will rely on the likes of Maata Magassa and Abdallahi Mahmoud to anchor the team, while the attacking unit, featuring Hemeya Taji and Aboubakary Koïta, will be expected to deliver goals.
