Ahmed Ould Yahya Reappointed President of the Mauritanian Football Federation
Ahmed Ould Yahya will continue to lead the Mauritanian Football Federation (FFRIM) for another four years. During an extraordinary congress held this Friday, the incumbent president was re-elected unopposed, receiving 29 out of 32 votes from delegates.
A prominent figure in Mauritanian football, Ould Yahya expressed his commitment to the sport despite the personal sacrifices involved.
“It’s true that my position as president of the Federation takes up a large part of my time, to the detriment of my work in the fishing industry and my family. But personally, I’m passionate about football and I can’t give it up,” he stated following the vote.
Ould Yahya has been credited with the recent progress of Mauritanian football, both on and off the pitch, including increased participation in continental competitions and the professionalization of domestic structures.
His new term is expected to focus on continued development, infrastructure expansion, and the improvement of the national teams.
