Ahmed Yahya has secured another term as president of the Mauritanian Football Federation (FFRIM), following his re-election during the federation’s elective General Assembly on Sunday evening. The decision ensures that Yahya will remain at the helm for another four years, continuing the leadership he has held since 2011.
During his tenure, Yahya has overseen some of Mauritania’s most significant milestones in football. Most notably, under his guidance, the Mourabitounes qualified for their first-ever Africa Cup of Nations finals, a historic achievement for the country. Additionally, Mauritania participated in the 2014 African Nations Championship (CHAN), further establishing the nation on the continental stage.
Yahya’s re-election reflects the confidence of Mauritania’s football stakeholders in his vision and leadership, particularly in continuing the development of football infrastructure, talent cultivation, and international competitiveness for the national teams. His continued presidency is expected to play a crucial role in preparing the Mourabitounes for upcoming tournaments, including the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
With four more years ahead, Ahmed Yahya aims to build on the foundation laid during his first term, consolidating Mauritania’s presence in African football and fostering the growth of the sport domestically.
