Bruno Valencony‘s departure from Mauritania’s national team as a goalkeeping coach marks the end of his brief stint with the Mourabitounes. The 47-year-old has rejoined SC Bastia, the French club where he spent a significant portion of his playing career. Valencony will now focus on coaching goalkeepers at the youth academy, specifically with the U17-U19 and CFA2 teams.
This move sees him return to familiar ground after years of coaching at clubs like Nice and Monaco, where he built a solid reputation. His playing days included notable achievements, such as contributing to SC Bastia’s promotion to Ligue 1 and reaching the League Cup final in 1995. With his experience both on the field and in coaching, Valencony is now expected to nurture the next generation of goalkeepers at his former club.
Mauritania will now need to find a replacement for Valencony to continue developing their goalkeeping department.
