Matumona Zola, who transferred to Primeiro de Agosto a year ago, has returned to his former Belgian club, RAEC Mons, for a 6-month stint. Despite being under contract with the Angolan club for one more season, the Congolese midfielder had a disagreement with his coach, Faquirá, prompting his return to the Belgian championship. Zola signed a 6-month contract with RAEC Mons to assist the club in avoiding relegation.
“I am very happy to return to Mons, and the fact that the club is in a difficult situation changes nothing for me. I arrive with ambitions which are identical to those shared by the rest of the group, the coach, and the management. I will give everything for the club,” said Matumona Zola after signing.
RAEC Mons Racing Club is currently ranked last in the Belgian championship after 21 matchdays. For the 22nd match, RAEC Mons faces Waasland-Beveren in a crucial battle between poorly classified teams.
