Uganda laoured to secure a narrow 1-0 victory against Guinea on Tuesday afternoon to stay in contention for qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Cranes bounced back from a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Mozambique in their previous game to claim all three points at home.
Meanwhile, Guinea came into the match after a frustrating 0-0 draw against bottom-placed Somalia, which dented their qualification hopes.
Uganda took the lead in the 35th minute when Allan Okello produced a brilliant curling free-kick that beat Guinea goalkeeper Soumaïla Sylla and found the bottom right corner of the net. Despite Guinea’s efforts to find an equalizer, Uganda held firm to secure the win.
