Despite creating several promising chances in the first half, Egypt couldn’t extend their lead.
Tanzania came out of the break with renewed energy, making key substitutions and tactical changes in a bid to turn the tide.
However, the Egyptian defense remained resolute, weathering late pressure to preserve their slender lead.

The result means Egypt finish the group stage with seven points and secures qualification to the next round.
Zambia and Sierra Leone also progressed from Group A to the quarter-finals after earning seven points apiece.
