Nigeria’s U20 side kicked off their 2025 U-20 AFCON campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over Tunisia on Thursday afternoon in Egypt.
The Group B opener saw the Young Eagles edge past a resilient Tunisian side in a match filled with tactical battles and limited goal-scoring chances.
Auwal Ibrahim made the difference in the 38th minute, finishing off a swift team move to hand Nigeria the lead. That goal proved enough as the Nigerians defended well to shut down Tunisia’s second-half push for an equalizer.
The Flying Eagles’ solid team shape and defensive commitment frustrated Tunisia, who struggled to break through despite enjoying spells of possession. Nigeria’s victory sees them sit second in the group with three points, while Tunisia occupy the bottom spot following the defeat.
