Morocco’s U17 national team began their CAF U17 Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026 campaign with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Tunisia in Wednesday’s Group A encounter.

The defending champions were forced to come from behind after a difficult first half against a disciplined Tunisian side.

Tunisia opened the scoring in the 28th minute through Yahya Jalidi, who finished clinically to give his side the advantage.

After taking the lead, the Tunisians focused on staying compact defensively while looking to threaten Morocco on quick counterattacks.

The Atlas Cubs dominated possession in the second half as they increased pressure in search of a comeback.

Their persistence finally paid off in the 76th minute when Elian Al-Hadidi found the back of the net to restore parity for the hosts.

The match ended 1-1, leaving Morocco and Tunisia level on points after the opening round of fixtures.

The result came after Egypt and Ethiopia also shared the spoils in a goalless draw earlier in the day, meaning Group A remains completely open heading into the next set of matches.
