Madagascar secured a historic berth in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) final after a dramatic 1-0 victory over Sudan in a tense semi-final at Dar es Salaam’s Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium on Tuesday evening.
The decisive moment came in the 116th minute when substitute Toky Rakotondraibe fired home after fine work from Lalaina Rafanomezantsoa, sending the Barea into Saturday’s final in Nairobi.
Both sides created chances throughout, with goalkeepers Michel Ramandimbisoa and Mohamed Abooja in top form. Sudan came close through Walieldin Khdir and Mubark Abdalla, but Madagascar held firm before striking late.
