South Africa claimed their first-ever U-20 Africa Cup of Nations title with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Morocco in the final.
The match was closely contested, with both teams creating chances, but it was Gomolemo Kekana who scored the only goal of the game in the 70th minute following a defensive error by Morocco.
South Africa’s goalkeeper Fletcher Lowe was outstanding, making several crucial saves throughout the match and was named Man of the Match.
Morocco came close to equalising late on, hitting the post and crossbar, but couldn’t break through.
The win marks a historic moment for South Africa’s U-20 side, capping a strong tournament campaign with the ultimate prize.
