Massimiliano Alvini named Serie A Manager of the Month for September

Massimiliano Alvini has been named Serie A Manager of the Month for September after guiding newly promoted Frosinone to an impressive start to the campaign.

Frosinone have collected 10 points from their opening five league matches and are sixth in the Serie A table. They have also gone unbeaten in their past four games.

The club began the season with a 1-0 defeat by Juventus, but responded by beating Fiorentina 3-0. Frosinone then continued their strong run with a 3-2 victory over Venezia, a 1-1 draw against Genoa and a 2-0 win against Como.

The award is the first Alvini has received as Serie A Manager of the Month. He will be presented with the prize when Frosinone face Sassuolo on Friday 16 October.

Frosinone’s squad includes young Egypt defender Omar Fayed, who joined the club from Turkish side Fenerbahce before the start of the season.

Fayed has featured under Alvini in the Coppa Italia, but has yet to play any minutes in Serie A.

The award recognises Alvini’s work in leading Frosinone’s early challenge after their promotion to Italy’s top division. The team’s only league defeat came in their opening match, before they followed it with four consecutive unbeaten games.

Donyell Malen was named Serie A Player of the Month for the previous month after scoring six goals for Roma in five matches.
