Maghreb Fes will host Raja Casablanca at Meknes’ Honorary Stadium next Thursday after the National Professional Football League confirmed a change of venue for the third-round Botola clash.

The decision was taken after MAS Fes were unable to use either the Hassan II Stadium or the Grand Fez Stadium, leaving the club without a suitable venue in the city for the meeting with Raja.

Honorary Stadium to host MAS Fes and Raja

The Professional League approved the request from the MAS Fes management to move the fixture to the Honorary Stadium in Meknes.

The match will go ahead on its original date and at the scheduled 20:00 kick-off, with the fixture expected to be played at full audience capacity.

The move follows delays to work at the Hassan II Stadium, while the Grand Fez Stadium has also been closed by the regional directorate of SONARGES, the national company responsible for the construction and management of sports facilities in the Fez-Meknes region.

The Grand Fez Stadium is being prepared as part of Morocco’s infrastructure programme ahead of the 2030 World Cup.

MAS Fes face further stadium uncertainty

The venue problem comes at a challenging time for MAS Fes, who are also preparing for their continental campaign.

The club are considering moving their upcoming match against ASEC Mimosas to Rabat, although a final decision on the venue has yet to be made.

MAS Fes officials are reportedly not keen on playing in the capital because of their preference to host the match closer to their supporters. However, the limited number of available stadiums has left the club facing difficult logistical choices.

The situation highlights the challenges facing Moroccan clubs as stadium renovation and rehabilitation projects continue alongside the domestic and continental football calendar.
