Marumo Gallants appoint Jamil Benouahi as head coach following Alexandre Lafitte’s suspension
Marumo Gallants have appointed Moroccan tactician Jamil Benouahi as their new head coach, replacing Alexandre Lafitte following the Frenchman’s suspension amid a difficult run of results in the Betway Premiership.
Lafitte’s departure comes after a series of disappointing performances that saw the club slide down to 14th place in the league standings. The poor form ultimately prompted the club’s management to take decisive action in a bid to stabilise their campaign.
Benouahi now steps into the role with the responsibility of steering Gallants away from the danger zone and improving their position on the table. The club expressed confidence in the new coach’s ability to bring a fresh approach and positive results.
“The club is confident that Benouahi’s expertise, leadership and fresh perspective will contribute positively to the team’s performance as Marumo Gallants continues its campaign for the remainder of the season,” the club stated.
Marumo Gallants also reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining high standards both on and off the pitch as they look to reset and refocus for the remainder of the season.
“Marumo Gallants remains committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, governance and performance both on and off the field, as the team continues its preparations for the remainder of the season,” the statement added.
The club extended gratitude to its supporters, partners, and stakeholders for their continued backing during what has been a challenging period.
With a new manager at the helm, Gallants will be hoping for an immediate turnaround as Benouahi looks to inject stability, structure, and renewed belief into the squad. The coming fixtures will be crucial in determining whether the coaching change can spark a revival and lift the club away from the lower reaches of the table.
