Marseille submit offer for Algeria right-back Rafik Belghali

Olympique Marseille have made the first real move for Rafik Belghali, turning transfer interest into a concrete offer as the summer market heats up.

The Algerian right-back, who impressed at the 2026 World Cup with four starts and a goal against Austria, is attracting attention from several major clubs, but Marseille have now gone beyond scouting and put numbers on the table.

Belghali is under contract with Hellas Verona until 2029, yet his strong tournament and rising reputation have already put him on the radar of Inter, Roma and Marseille. The 24-year-old’s situation is especially interesting because he has climbed quickly, moving from relative anonymity to a player with genuine international demand in a short span of time.

Marseille’s proposal reportedly takes the form of a loan worth 13 million euros, including an option to buy. Verona are asking for 15 million euros, so the gap is not huge, and talks could still move forward. For Marseille, the urgency is clear as they look to strengthen at right-back after Benjamin Pavard’s departure. Belghali now looks like a realistic target, not just a name in the rumor mill.
