Souleymane Diawara, the Senegalese defender for Marseille, is not intimidated by the substantial investments made by PSG and Monaco in player recruitment. Ahead of the pivotal match against Monaco on the 4th day of Ligue 1, Diawara emphasizes Marseille’s ambition and doesn’t rule out the possibility of contending for the title.
“It’s much too early to talk about a title, even if you beat Monaco,” Diawara asserts. He acknowledges that Monaco is in the early stages of building a team with many new players, and it’s premature to make definitive judgments. Diawara remains optimistic about Marseille’s chances and asserts, “You can’t rule out the title when you play for a club like OM, or even allow yourself to say that you’re not playing for it and that you’re going to leave it to PSG or Monaco. We are here, we will try to take as many points as possible. And if afterwards we have the chance to win the title, we won’t mind.”
Diawara’s comments reflect Marseille’s determination to compete at the highest level and challenge for the Ligue 1 title.
