Ligue 1: Romao Starts for Marseille Against Lorient
After coming on as a substitute last weekend against Nantes, Jacques-Alaixys Romao returns to Olympique de Marseille’s starting XI for the clash against Lorient on Tuesday, part of Matchday 16 in Ligue 1.
Coach Marcelo Bielsa has opted to reintroduce the Togolese midfielder in the defensive midfield, replacing Mario Lemina, who had started after scoring against Bordeaux. To deal with the absence of Ghanaian winger André Ayew, Bielsa has turned to Moroccan international Abdelaziz Barrada, supporting the attack alongside André-Pierre Gignac and Florian Thauvin.
In defense, Jeremy Morel and Rod Fanni form the central pairing, while Benjamin Mendy and Brice Dja Djédjé take up the full-back positions.
Marseille Starting XI vs Lorient:
Mandanda – Dja Djédjé, Fanni, Morel, Mendy – Romao, Imbula – Payet, Thauvin, Barrada – Gignac
Marseille aim to bounce back with a solid performance as they continue their push at the top of the Ligue 1 table.
