Marseille reject Real Sociedad bid for Nayef Aguerd

Olympique Marseille have rejected Real Sociedad’s opening proposal for Nayef Aguerd, but discussions over the Morocco international remain ongoing.

The Spanish club reportedly offered a €2.5 million loan fee with a mandatory €10 million purchase clause, creating a package worth €12.5 million. Marseille considered that amount insufficient and turned down the bid.

Despite the setback, Aguerd has already reached an agreement in principle with Real Sociedad on a five-year contract. The clubs are expected to continue negotiating as they search for a financial solution that satisfies both sides.

Aguerd began his footballing career at the Mohammed VI Academy before joining FUS Rabat in 2014. After spending a season with the club’s amateur team, he signed his first professional contract and began playing in Morocco’s Botola competition. He later moved to France, representing Dijon and Rennes before continuing his career at a higher level.

His international experience has also grown significantly. Aguerd was selected for Morocco’s African Nations Championship squad in 2018, then featured in the Africa Cup of Nations squads in 2021, 2023 and 2025. He also represented his country at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
