Nicolas Nkoulou Set to Stay at Marseille Despite Transfer Speculation
Nicolas Nkoulou, the Cameroonian defender long linked with a move away from Olympique de Marseille, could be staying put after all. According to French newspaper La Provence, new Marseille coach Marcelo Bielsa is eager to keep the 24-year-old as a key figure in his squad for the upcoming season.
Nkoulou, who has attracted interest from several Italian clubs amid widespread transfer speculation, appears to be part of Bielsa’s plans as he looks to rebuild the Phocéens’ defence. However, Marseille’s management may still be tempted to cash in if a lucrative offer arrives.
The player is currently in Brazil representing Cameroon at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, where he continues to impress on football’s biggest stage.
