Khalifa and Lemina Miss Out on Marseille Squad After Night Out Incident
Marseille will head to Bordeaux this Saturday for the 37th matchday of Ligue 1 without two key players: Saber Khalifa and Mario Lemina. Both have been excluded from the matchday squad not due to injury, but as a result of disciplinary measures following a breach of team conduct.
The Tunisian striker Khalifa and his teammate Lemina were reportedly caught out during the week taking advantage of a lack of rest time to go out in Marseille. Khalifa was seen “swinging his hips with the Marseille night owls on Thursday evening,” while Lemina was “caught dancing at a time when he should have been sleeping.” These actions have led to their exclusion from the 18-player squad that will face Bordeaux on Saturday.
Despite the absence, Lemina is still expected to feature for Marseille’s reserve team this weekend. However, Khalifa will miss his second consecutive match following the 4-2 defeat to Olympique Lyonnais last weekend.
This disciplinary issue highlights concerns within the team as Marseille prepares to challenge Bordeaux. With both players out of the lineup, head coach Jorge Sampaoli will have to adjust his plans as he looks to secure valuable points for his side in the final stages of the season.
