Olympique Marseille are reportedly eyeing a move for Stade de Reims midfielder Amadou Koné, as they look to fill the gap left by the departure of Ismaël Koné.
The French club is expected to demand €12m for the Ivorian talent, who has impressed with 11 Ligue 1 appearances this season.
According to L’Équipe’s Loïc Tanzi, Marseille are eager to bolster their squad with the young midfielder, who fits their vision for the future. This potential move is said to be part of a broader strategy, as the club also seeks to bring in Juventus’ Nicolo Fagioli (23).
Marseille coach Roberto De Zerbi, after seemingly securing a deal for Stade Rennais striker Amine Gouiri, emphasized the need for more top-class signings.
“We really need to strengthen our squad with top-class players, both for this season and for the years to come,” De Zerbi stated in a recent press conference. The addition of Koné would add depth to the midfield, a key area of focus for the manager.
