Marseille Banks on Ismaël Bennacer and Amine Gouiri for crucial clash against Nantes

Olympique de Marseille will host FC Nantes on Sunday evening at the Orange Vélodrome, determined to bounce back from their recent setback against Auxerre.

With Champions League qualification as their primary objective, Marseille will rely on their Algerian duo, Ismaël Bennacer and Amine Gouiri, to guide them to victory in this pivotal Ligue 1 encounter.

A special tribute to the fans

In a unique gesture, OM has launched an initiative that further strengthens its connection with supporters.

Each Marseille player will wear the first name of a randomly selected fan above their own name on their jersey.

Bennacer, a key addition to the squad, will take to the pitch with “Diego” on his back—an emblematic nod to the club’s deep-rooted relationship with its fanbase.

As part of the experience, 200 loyal fans have been invited to enjoy exclusive behind-the-scenes access.

Some will witness the dressing room preparations, others will greet the players as they step off the team bus, and a select few will watch the game from the sidelines.

Additionally, the Marseille captain’s armband will be specially designed with the “Peuple Bleu & Blanc” emblem, further underlining the club’s commitment to its supporters.

Bennacer’s growing influence in Midfield

On the pitch, Ismaël Bennacer will have another opportunity to make his mark in Marseille’s midfield.

Since arriving at OM, the Algerian international has shown glimpses of his quality, and this fixture presents a chance for him to dictate the tempo and establish himself as a linchpin in the team’s setup.

After two promising outings, his ability to control possession and transition play will be crucial against a Nantes side eager to climb the table.

Gouiri’s attacking threat

Amine Gouiri, one of Marseille’s standout performers this season, will lead the attacking charge.

With two goals and three assists to his name, the versatile forward has been a vital component in OM’s offensive setup.

His technical ability, movement, and eye for goal will be key in unlocking a Nantes defense that has struggled for consistency.

Currently second in Ligue 1 after 23 matches, Marseille cannot afford to drop points as they seek to maintain their edge in the race for Champions League football.

A win against Nantes would solidify their position and provide a much-needed boost after their recent disappointment.

With Bennacer orchestrating play in midfield and Gouiri spearheading the attack, OM’s Algerian duo will have the perfect stage to leave a lasting impact.
