André Ayew Escapes Further Punishment After Disciplinary Review
Ghanaian international André Ayew has received a reprieve following a disciplinary review by the Professional Football League. The Marseille midfielder was involved in a contentious incident during the fourth round of Ligue 1 against OGC Nice, where he was booked for striking opponent Dario Cvitanich in a sensitive area.
Ayew defended his actions via videoconference during the league’s disciplinary hearing. After considering his explanation, the committee chose to uphold the original sanction handed down by the match referee, Bartolomeu Varela, deciding against any additional punishment.
While this decision brings relief to Ayew and Marseille, the player’s conduct will remain under close scrutiny. The league has made it clear that any future infractions will be dealt with severely, leaving no room for leniency.
