André Ayew Named Marseille’s Player of the Month for May
Olympique de Marseille supporters have once again honoured André Ayew, naming the Ghanaian international as the club’s Player of the Month for May.
The announcement, made via the club’s official website, followed a fan poll in which Ayew secured 26% of the votes, narrowly edging out French striker André-Pierre Gignac, who garnered 21%. Defender Souleymane Diawara came in third with 13% of the vote.
This marks a back-to-back accolade for Ayew, who also claimed the award in April, underlining his consistent impact during the closing stages of the season. The 25-year-old has been one of Marseille’s most influential figures, combining technical skill, relentless work ethic and crucial goals to help drive the team’s campaign.
Ayew’s performances have not gone unnoticed beyond the Stade Vélodrome. The versatile attacker, who can operate both in midfield and up front, is reportedly attracting interest from several European clubs, including Serie A side Napoli. However, the Marseille star has yet to reveal where his future lies.
With his contract situation under close scrutiny and speculation mounting over a potential summer move, Ayew’s successive Player of the Month awards serve as a timely reminder of his value—not only to Marseille but to any club considering a bid.
As the summer transfer window approaches, Marseille supporters will be hoping their talisman remains on the south coast. But for now, Ayew continues to make headlines for all the right reasons.
