Marios Ogboe: Greece-Nigeria striker joins ASIL Lysi on free transfer

Greece-Nigeria centre-forward Marios Ogboe has joined Cypriot side ASIL Lysi on a free transfer from Ellas Syros. The 31-year-old has signed a deal running until May 2027 with the 2. Division club.

Ogboe makes the move after a short spell at Ellas Syros, whom he joined in January 2026. His switch continues a career that has taken in Greek, Scottish, Emirati, Indonesian and Lebanese football before his latest step to Cyprus.

Born in Athens and standing at 1.88m, Ogboe offers ASIL Lysi a physically imposing, right-footed option through the middle. Across his senior career he has scored regularly in Greece’s Super League 2, with 29 goals in 58 appearances in the competition, and also has experience in the Scottish Premiership and Greek top flight.

Ogboe’s most productive spells came in Greece’s second tier and domestic cup competitions, where he combined league and cup form with a strong minutes-per-goal record. He has also featured in the Lebanese Premier League and UAE President’s Cup during a series of free-transfer moves in recent seasons.

His previous clubs include Hamilton Academical in Scotland, AE Larisa, OFI Crete and a run of sides in Greece’s lower divisions, before moves to Dibba SCC, Persita and Nejmeh SC preceded his return to Greek football with Ellas Syros.

ASIL Lysi secure Ogboe’s services with an estimated market value of €125,000, adding an experienced centre-forward to their squad on a permanent basis.
