Marino Bosic says Al-Ahli board still backs him despite reported instability

Marino Bosic has acknowledged “a state of instability” at Al-Ahli Saudi FC but says the club’s management remains confident in him amid speculation over his future.

The head coach was speaking before Al-Ahli’s meeting with Al-Hazem tomorrow in the seventh round of the Saudi Pro League, with increased uncertainty surrounding the club’s technical staff.

“There is indeed a state of instability at Al-Ahli, and the sporting director who appointed me was dismissed, but the management told me that it trusts me,” Bosic said at his pre-match news conference.

The comments come after recent changes within the club’s administration and as Al-Ahli seek to improve their position in the league. Bosic’s admission is the clearest acknowledgement yet of the internal disruption, although he insisted that he continues to have the board’s backing.

He also defended his footballing approach, saying he remains committed to attacking football while recognising the need for greater defensive balance.

“As everyone knows, I always lean towards playing an attacking style, but we must not ignore the defensive aspect in our matches,” he said.

Bosic rejected the suggestion that Al-Ahli’s away performances had been fully reflected in their results. He said the team had produced displays in some matches that were better than the outcomes indicated.

The coach pointed to Al-Ahli’s record in the King’s Cup as evidence of their ability to perform away from home, noting that they had already secured two victories in the competition.

Al-Ahli have lost three of their six matches in the Roshn Saudi League this season. Their defeats came against Al-Kholood, Al-Hilal and Al-Qadsiah.

Bosic’s immediate focus is now on the fixture against Al-Hazem, with a positive result potentially providing Al-Ahli with renewed momentum while also easing some of the pressure surrounding his position.
