Mariano Barreto Appointed New Head Coach of Ethiopia National Team
The Ethiopian national football team has a new head coach, officially announced on Wednesday by the Ethiopian Football Federation. After a two-month search following the dismissal of Sewnet Bishaw, the federation revealed that Portuguese coach Mariano Barreto will take the reins.
Barreto, who has extensive experience in African football, is no stranger to the continent, having previously managed Ghana. He also held positions as assistant coach at Dynamo Moscow and head coach at Maritimo Funchal in Portugal.
The 62-year-old coach has signed a two-year contract with the Ethiopian national team, and will be tasked with leading the squad through upcoming international competitions. His appointment marks a fresh chapter for Ethiopian football, with high hopes for his experience and expertise to guide the team to greater success.
