Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has warned his team to be ready for a demanding Premier League meeting with Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
City will arrive on Merseyside seeking to maintain their perfect start to the season, having won each of their opening five matches.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are aiming to stop a run of two successive league defeats by City. They lost both fixtures between the sides during the 2025/26 season.
“It will be a tough game for sure. Tough test. We need to be ready,” Maresca said at his pre-match news conference.
He said his players would need to concentrate on the match while also dealing with the atmosphere at Anfield.
“The focus has to be about the game but also we know the environment in Anfield is nice and probably it will be worse because of the situation, but we will try to do our best to win the game,” he added.
Maresca also expressed confidence that his squad could cope with the pressure surrounding the fixture.
“Absolutely they [the players] can face the pressure. Absolutely. We have players that have experienced similar situations,” he said.
“I don’t know, Enzo Fernandez has played in Argentina. In Argentina, it’s almost every game to go to Anfield.”
Liverpool could move up to fourth place in the table by winning, while victory for City would restore their three-point advantage over defending champions Arsenal at the top.
