Marcio Teixeira Barbosa joins Frejus Saint-Raphael on free transfer

Cape Verdean-French attacking midfielder Marcio Teixeira Barbosa has joined Frejus Saint-Raphael from RC Grasse B on a free transfer.

The 22-year-old moves to a club competing in National 1 – Group C after spending the previous part of his career with RC Grasse B. Barbosa completed the switch on 31 July 2026, marking his third senior club since progressing from youth football.

Barbosa is a right-footed midfielder whose primary position is attacking midfield. Born in Praia, Cape Verde, he holds both Cape Verdean and French nationality and began his senior career with Niort B after leaving Niort’s under-19 side in July 2023.

He joined RC Grasse B from Niort B in January 2025, also on a free transfer. His move to Frejus Saint-Raphael now gives him a new opportunity at a club operating in a higher-level National 1 group.

The midfielder’s recorded youth figures include 19 appearances and six goals in National U19 – Group C. He also made 13 appearances and scored once in National 2 – Group D, before adding one goal and one assist in five appearances in National 2 – Group B.

Barbosa has also featured in senior and cup football, making four appearances in National 1 – Group C and two in the Coupe de France. His time on the pitch in those competitions totals 150 minutes in National 1 and 35 minutes in the French cup.

The transfer continues a sequence of free moves for Barbosa, who left Niort B for RC Grasse B in January 2025 before departing the club for Frejus Saint-Raphael. No contract duration has been announced.

Frejus Saint-Raphael have therefore added a young, right-footed attacking midfielder with experience across under-19, reserve and senior football to their squad for the 2026-27 campaign.

Barbosa’s transfer to Frejus Saint-Raphael was completed on a free transfer on 31 July 2026.
